304 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of arrests in County Kildare for drug offences; the number of convictions in relation to the arrests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19863/99]
I am informed by the Garda Síochána that the number of arrests for drug offences, and the number of convictions in relation to the arrests, in County Kildare were as follows: in 1998, 135 arrests were made and 188 convictions were secured in relation to the arrests. From 1 January 1999 to 11 October 1999, 129 arrests were made and 106 convictions were secured in relation to the arrests.
