Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Recruitment.

Dick Spring

Question:

92 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to remove or alter the height requirements for entry into An Garda Síochána. [19565/99]

The height requirements for entry to the Garda Síochána are prescribed by regulation and are currently under review. Until that review is completed I am not in a position to say what changes, if any, will be made to the relevant regulations. Any proposals I may have in this regard will be submitted for consideration by the Government in due course.

The height requirements will remain unchanged for the purposes of the Garda recruitment competition which was advertised during the summer.
