Question:141 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans, if any, she has to extend the national gas network to Callan, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19641/99]
Written Answers. - Natural Gas Network.
The question of extending the national gas network is primarily one for Bord Gáis Éireann.
They have informed me that they carried out a further project assessment on the viability of extending the existing gas network to Callan, County Kilkenny in June of this year. They concluded that the existing and potential load scenario was not sufficient for the project to meet Bord Gáis' economic criteria.
Bord Gáis will, however, continue to monitor new developments in the area on a regular basis.
