Vol. 509 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Question:

316 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí employed in the Tallaght Garda station for 1999 and in each of the past five years; the plans, if any, he has to increase the number in this station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20461/99]

The detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to an individual area is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the personnel strength pertaining to Tallaght Garda station for the past six years is as outlined hereunder:

It can be seen from these statistics that the overall personnel strength has increased considerably over the past six years.
The Garda authorities have also informed me that the situation will be kept under review and when additional personnel next become available, the needs of Tallaght will be fully considered in the overall context of the needs of other Garda districts throughout the country.
