Question:

332 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if, in view of the expanding population in Kinnegad, County Westmeath, his Department will provide additional accommo dation at St. Etchen's national school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20314/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 331 and 332 together.

My Department received a request for additional accommodation in May of this year from the chairperson of St. Etchen's national school to cater for increased pupil numbers at the school.

Two temporary classrooms have been provided to address the immediate accommodation needs at St. Etchen's. My Department is awaiting details in respect of the school's future requirements. On receipt of this information a review will be carried out of the long-term accommodation needs of the school.

With regard to car parking at this school, the building unit of my Department has only recently received a request for upgraded facilities and will examine the matter in due course.
