Vol. 509 No. 4

Written Answers. - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

190 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the eligibility rules governing the grant approval for cattle slatted houses under the control of farmyard pollution scheme where one spouse has managerial responsibility and farms full-time, the other spouse has a full-time off-farm income and both spouses are joint owners; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20680/99]

Under the eligibility conditions of the national scheme for the control of farm pollution, an applicant must be the owner of the land or have leasehold title to the land for a period of five years and be a registered herd owner under the disease eradication schemes. In the case of lands jointly owned or leased, the eligibility criteria must be met by the owner-lease holder identified as the registered herdowner and manager of the farm. If the herd number is registered in the name of two or more persons, the conditions of the scheme must be met by all parties.
