Written Answers. - Nuclear Safety.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

56 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the representations, if any, he has made to the British authorities regarding the safety of the arrangements of the shipping of mixed oxide fuel in view of the potential dangers for the Irish Sea; the response, if any, he has received; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20695/99]

The position in relation to mixed oxide fuel, i.e. nuclear fuel reprocessed at Sellafield, is as outlined in my reply to questions on 29 September 1999 and 7 October 1999 in this matter.
