Vol. 509 No. 5

Written Answers. - Fisheries Training Centre.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

65 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when grant assistance will be provided for the extension of the fisheries training centre in Greencastle, County Donegal, in view of the urgent need for this extension. [20745/99]

I am glad to be in a position to inform the Deputy that I have secured the necessary funding under the EU INTERREG Programme 1994 – 1999 to provide for an extension to the Greencastle Fisheries Training Centre. The new construction, which has an estimated cost of £750,000, will provide additional classrooms and facilities to overcome the substantial shortage of places for trainees at the Greencastle centre. BIM expect the work to commence shortly.
