549 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need to appoint a special needs assistant for Conna national school; when this will be sanctioned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21077/99]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that a full-time special needs assistant post was sanctioned by my Department for the school in question last month. My Department has written to the school authorities in this regard.
