Brian O'Shea

Question:

580 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will grant the request of the County Waterford Vocational Education Committee regarding the Dungarvan vocational school building project (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21260/99]

Austin Deasy

Question:

619 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will allow the proposed building project of the new vocational school at Dungarvan, County Waterford, to proceed to tender stage, allowing the inclusion of the physical education hall to be dealt with separately; if he will ensure that there will be no further delays with the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21496/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 580 and 619 together.

The stage 4-5 documentation, detailed design- bill of quantities, for the proposed new vocational school in Dungarvan is currently being examined in my Department's planning and building unit. It is expected that this examination will be completed shortly. However, it is a matter for the County Waterford Vocational Educational Committee in conjunction with its design team to consider the implications of including a physical education hall in the current proposals and to advise my Department's planning and building unit of its decision.
