627 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science the consideration he has given to the proposal from Dún Laoghaire VEC for the redevelopment of Blackrock town hall as a college of further education; the progress made since the visit with a delegation from the VEC in July 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The VEC facility in Blackrock is an annexe of the Dún Laoghaire senior college which is primarily located in Eblana Avenue, Dún Laoghaire.

Officials from the planning and building unit in my Department are involved in ongoing discussions with the VEC to assess how best to meet the overall needs of the college.
