129 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of task forces he has established; the composition of each; the date of the establishment of each; and the date when each of the task forces has to present their findings. [21160/99]

1.Petroleum Affairs Advisory GroupsWithin the Department's Petroleum Affairs Division three groups have been established

These groups are informal and are composed of representatives of relevant agencies, universities and industry sectors. Two of these groups will advise on the selection of proposals for funding under the Petroleum Infrastructure Programme. The final group will assist in reviewing and updating the safety measures and procedures in place for hydrocarbon and production activities

2.Inland Fisheries/Aquaculture PolicyThe Aquaculture Forum

Representatives of the aquaculture industry, the IFA (Fish Farming Sector), Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources

The forum was set up to enhance communication between the aquaculture industry, the Department and the State Agencies. This work is ongoing and does not involve the presentation of findings

The review group published its first report entitled “National Investment Priorities for the Irish Seafood Sector” on 14 June 1999. It is envisaged that the group will produce further interim reports in the period up to the end of 2000 with a final report in early 2000.

While a deadline has not been set for the presentation of the Task Force's findings it is envisaged that it will present a final report to the Minister by June, 2000.

9.Interdepartmental Expert Working Group to examine the costing, financing and timing of the new National Maritime College.

It is envisaged that the Group's findings will be presented to Government by December, 1999.
