Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Michael Finucane

Question:

370 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that a replacement garda is appointed for a station (detail supplied) in County Limerick and that the Garda residence is occupied in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22325/99]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas. They have informed me that the current strength of Shanagolden Garda station is two gardaí, one of whom is due to retire early next year. It is envisaged that this member will be replaced when the vacancy arises

The Garda authorities have also informed me that the official accommodation at Shanagolden has been vacant since January 1987 and is not in a habitable condition.
