Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Liz McManus

Question:

15 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the urgent need to provide a paediatric unit at St. Colmcille's hospital, Loughlinstown, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22840/99]

The question of developing paediatric services at St. Columcille's hospital, Loughlinstown, is a matter, in the first instance, for the Eastern Health Board.

As the Deputy may be aware, the three Dublin children's hospitals, with the support of my Department, have established a Joint Council for Children's Hospital Care. One of the items proposed for inclusion on the joint council's agenda will be a review of existing arrangements for the provision of paediatric services to the Dublin south eastern region, which includes east Wicklow. The findings of the joint council in this regard will be made known to my Department in due course.
