Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

381 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when an educational psychologist will be provided to cater for the needs of children in the Maynooth area, County Kildare, with particular reference to the need of children attending Scoil Uí Fiach and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23223/99]

All second level schools in the Maynooth area have access to an educational psychologist of the National Educational Psychological Service Agency. Interviews for the appointment of additional psychologists to the agency are currently taking place and it is hoped that those appointed will take up their positions in the near future.

The management of the national educational psychological service is currently drawing up a development plan for the phased expansion of the service. The particular needs of all schools, including Scoil Ui Fiach, will be considered in the formulation of this plan.
