Question:

57 Mr. Allen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of new opportunities for women's programmes in operation; the location of each programme; the annual funding available for each; and when each programme will terminate. [23909/99]

The Employment Initiative, of which NOW, New Opportunities for Women, is a strand, has been operating since 1995 and will continue until the end of 1999, early 2000. A total of 20,291,395 ecu, £15 million approximately, in European Social Funds and 2,102,178 ecu, £1.6 million approximately in European regional development funds has been invested in 71 NOW projects from 1995 to early 2000.

There are currently 32 projects being funded country wide in the current phase, 1998-2000, within a total EU budget of 12,663,600 ecu, £9.8 million approximately.
