Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - Liffey Valley Bridge.

Austin Currie

Question:

252 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the public inquiry into the construction of the second Liffey Valley bridge will be held; if the inquiry will consider the issue of noise levels, particularly the affect on residents; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24105/99]

The public inquiry into the second Liffey valley bridge has not been activated pending the anticipated submission of a toll scheme, or of an amending toll scheme, designed to support the financing of the project. As soon as the appropriate scheme has been submitted by the National Roads Authority, following their negotiations with the toll concessionaires, I will arrange for the holding of a combined public inquiry as soon as possible to consider the toll scheme, or amending toll scheme, the motorway scheme and the environmental impact statement. Under the latter heading, all environmental impacts of the project, including noise levels, will be addressed.
