Vol. 511 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

Dan Neville

Question:

84 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress, if any, made in correcting the deficiencies identified in the Limerick mental health service as outlined in the report of the Inspector of Mental Hospitals for the year ending 31 December 1998. [24687/99]

I have noted the comments of the Inspector of Mental Hospitals on the Limerick mental health service in his report for the year ending 31 December 1998. In so far as these comments point to the need for additional capital investment I have made available £383,000 in 1999 for the provision of a high support community residence in Limerick. I will examine the capital requirements of the service in the context of the funding available for mental health services under the national development plan.
