Vol. 511 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

95 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the allocation of capital funding from his Department to be made to the Waterford constituency in the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24769/99]

The information requested by the Deputy is not available. The allocation of funding to capital projects depends on factors such as the rate of progress of architectural design, site acquisition, the granting of planning permission and the outcome of the tender competition. Delays can arise at any point in the process, consequently, it is not possible to say when projects being designed at present will proceed to construction.

If the Deputy requires information on individual building projects, I will be happy to provide the details.

Liz McManus

Question:

96 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure that the proposed extension at Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew, County Wicklow, will provide for the extra needs of the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24782/99]

Officials of my Department's building unit have prepared the schedules of accommodation for Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew, County Wicklow in association with County Wicklow Vocational Education Committee based on the completed educational worksheet for a projected long-term enrolment of 500 pupils.

I assure the Deputy that the educational worksheet is designed to enable school authorities to specify and quantify their requirements in the context of the totality of the school's curriculum.
