Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Question:

199 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be paid livestock premia entitlements based on the amalgamation of his herd with his late uncle's herd; and if the forage areas and herd details can be combined and consolidated in a way he will be issued with full premia payments. [24938/99]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development
(Mr. Walsh): The herd numbers of the person named and that of his deceased uncle have been amalgamated under the herd number quoted. His future entitlements under the premia schemes will be determined by the details submitted by him under his area aid application and on the eligibility conditions pertaining to the individual schemes.
The person named did not submit a 1999 area aid application nor did he apply under any of the 1999 headage or premia schemes.

Question:

200 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle and sheep headage and premia. [24939/99]

The person named amended his original 1999 area aid application to include two new plots. These new plots are currently being entered on the Department's electronic database. When this process has been completed any payments due will issue.

The person named applied on 24 animals under the 1999 cattle headage scheme. One of these animals was not registered with the national calf birth registration service and my Department wrote to him on 8 July 1999 requesting that the animal be registered. To date this animal has not been registered. My Department has now written to the person named advising him that no grant will be paid on this animal and that the grants payable on the remaining animals will be subject to a reduced payment in accordance with clauses 13, 29 and 33(d) of the terms and conditions governing the scheme. He has been given the opportunity to appeal this decision by writing to my Department setting out any facts which he wishes to put forward to support his case. Any such appeal will be considered as a matter of urgency.
