Olivia Mitchell

Question:

306 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will expedite the amendment of the 1964 regulations to reference IS404, the standard for the conversion of vehicles to liquid petroleum gas. [25554/99]

John Gormley

Question:

307 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the necessary amendments will be made to the relevant legislation to facilitate issuing licences for wheelchair accessible liquid petroleum gas fuelled taxis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24839/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 306 and 307 together.

My Department is currently considering a number of applications for permits under article 97 of the Road Traffic (Construction Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963-1998, in relation to wheelchair accessible taxis fuelled by liquid petroleum gas. I will see that the Deputies are advised of the outcome.
