Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Appeals.

Michael Ring

Question:

334 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when a decision will be given on an appeal by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [24946/99]

The person concerned, who applied for farm assist in April 1999 was disallowed on the basis that his means, derived from

the income from his holding, exceeded the statutory limit for receipt of the allowance.

He appealed the decision to the social welfare appeals office and, following an oral hearing, an appeals officer assessed his income from the holding at £127. This entitles him to farm assist at the rate of £29.30 per week from 21 July 1999 rising to £45.50 from 13 September 1999. The person concerned is being notified and arrears due to him will issue by cheque shortly.
