Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

422 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is no educational psychologist in Donegal and parents are obliged to have their children assessed privately at great expense in Derry; and if he will immediately address this serious problem. [25466/99]

All post primary schools in County Donegal have access to a psychologist from the National Educational Psychological Service Agency. The management of the agency is currently drawing up a development plan for the phased expansion of its Service. The particular needs of all counties, including County Donegal, are being considered in the formulation of this plan. It is envisaged that all schools will have access to the psychological service by the end of a five year development period beginning in 1999.
