Written Answers. - Dublin Traffic Management.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

192 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will make appointments to the advisory committee of the Dublin Transportation Office; when he will contact the other nominating agencies; and if his attention has been drawn to the lack of public accountability in this area. [25553/99]

I have sought nominations to the Dublin Transportation Office advisory committee from the local authorities concerned and from representative groups and interests in the Dublin area. I expect to appoint the members of the advisory committee shortly.

Richard Bruton

Question:

193 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he received the report of the inspectors following the public inquiry into the Dublin Port access tunnel; the process of investigation he is now undertaking; the expertise he is employing to carry out the final assessments leading to his decision; and when he will issue a final decision. [25556/99]

The inspectors' report on the public local inquiry into the Dublin Port tunnel motorway proposal and related toll scheme was submitted to my Department in September 1999. Under the Roads Act, 1993, I must consider this report, together with the environmental impact statement, toll scheme and the submissions made, before determining the various issues for decision. I intend to finalise this matter as soon as possible.
