Brendan Howlin

Question:

199 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding a review of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25533/99]

A review of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 is being carried out by an interdepartmental review group consisting of representatives from my own Department, the Garda, the Revenue Commissioners, the Department of Finance and the Department of the Environment and Local Government.

The group, which commenced its work last June, is expected to finalise its deliberations by the end of the year and to report early in the new year.
