152 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if a classroom assistant will be provided for St. Pius national school, Terenure, Dublin 6W, which caters for a number of special students; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25701/99]

My Department recently allocated a special needs assistant post to the school in question to cater for children with special needs.

A subsequent request from the school for a further special needs assistant post has been con sidered by my Department's inspectorate. However, the inspectorate has reported that the special needs assistant already available to the school constitutes an adequate response to the school's present needs.
