Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - Seaside Resorts Scheme.

John Perry

Question:

186 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) was paid 15% under the pilot tax relief scheme for a resort area and was of the understanding that the extension would automatically apply until December without a formal application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25900/99]

It is understood that the person in question developed town houses under the pilot tax relief scheme for certain resort areas. In order to qualify for the first time extension to 30 June 1999 an application was made to Bundoran Urban District Council to certify that 15% of cost of expenditure on the project had been incurred by 30 June 1998. The 15% expenditure was certified by the council and it is understood that the project was completed well within this additional time frame. No application was either received or is necessary in relation to the option for the second time extension to 31 December 1999 as the works were already completed.
