Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - Pension Provisions.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

218 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if financial provision is being made for the payment of an increase in the pensions of retired nurses in accordance with pay and pension parity policy consequent on the recent increase in the salaries of nursing staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25967/99]

My Department has sanctioned the application of the 2% special pay increase under the local bargaining clause of Partnership 2000 to the pensions of retired nurses.

The Department of Finance is being consulted in relation to the application to such pensions of elements of the recent Labour Court settlement of the nurses' pay dispute.
