Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - National Monuments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

276 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the further consideration, if any, she has given to the proposal to have floodlighting provided at Jerpoint Abbey, Thomastown, County Kilkenny; and if the works will be included in the essential conservation works due to commence next year. [26030/99]

A programme of works including essential conservation works, is due to commence at Jerpoint Abbey next year. These works also include an extension to the visitor-reception building for which additional lands are being sought and which will require planning permission. Floodlighting will be installed provided there are no over-riding archaeological implications to prevent it.
