48 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, further to her statement to Dáil Éireann on 3 November 1999, officials in her Department have reported to her on comparable levels of cost recovery in European cities in relation to their public transport systems; and if she will make a statement on the matter. This is a complex area and I am conscious that we may not always be comparing like with like when the cost recovery rate of, say, Dublin Bus is contrasted with that of another urban transport provider. I have, therefore, asked my officials to engage a consultant to carry out a short comparative study on this subject. My Department is currently in negotiations with a consultant who may be in a position to carry out the work.
