Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - Telecommunications Services.

John Perry

Question:

91 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will clarify the points (details supplied) in relation to MMDS deflectors which are of the utmost importance and will have far reaching implications for the licencees; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25890/99]

The provisions of the proposed TV deflector licensing system were outlined in the consultation process initiated by the Director of Telecommunications Regulation, on which the public had the opportunity to comment. The director, in her report on the consultation, outlined the reasons she proposed to include the various conditions in the licences.

While I have given my consent to the regulations governing the licensing system, the details of the licensing system and its implementation are a matter for the director.
