Question:

306 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress being made in respect of the Gowran, Goresbridge and Paulstown water schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26859/99]

This scheme was not included in the 1999 water services investment programme and, accordingly, it comes within the scope of my Department's circular letter L9/98 which asked each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of the needs for capital works in its area and to prepare a prior- itised list of projects based on the assessment. The priority lists are being taken into consideration in the framing of future water and sewerage services investment under the National Development Plan 2000-06.

A needs assessment has not yet been received from Kilkenny County Council.
