Vol. 512 No. 6

Written Answers. - Wage Increases.

Question:

50 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance his Department's latest forecast in relation to wage increases in the private and public sectors in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26911/99]

The Department of Finance's latest macroeconornic projections assume an increase in per capita non-agricultural earnings of close to 5.5%, marginally higher than the expected outturn for this year. These forecasts assume full implementation of the remaining elements of Partnership 2000 and the proposed national minimum wage, and take account of all other developments which may impact on average earnings levels.
