106 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 115 of 8 December 1999, all the 572 recruits who enlisted in the Defence Forces during 1999 have remained in the forces to date; the number of those who have left to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The military authorities advise that a total of 113 recruits enlisted during 1999 have since been discharged. Where operationally possible, those discharged were replaced. This Government's policy of continuous ongoing recruitment is being maintained.
