Question:

70 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will categorise by reason for committal those who have spent more than 20 years detained within the mental institutions; the number of patients who were detained for various reasons of addiction; if he will provide a breakdown in the specified nature of those addictions as per the application for the initial reception order; the number of those patients detained under (i) private and (ii) public patient reception orders; and the nature of the relationship of those patients to the person who applied for the initial reception order. The information in the form requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. Officials in my Department are working on obtaining the necessary information and I will forward it directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.
