Vol. 513 No. 3

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

218 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the consideration, if any, he has given to amending the income eligibility criteria for participation in the shared ownership scheme in view of the escalating cost of houses; if he will increase the maximum income level of £20,000 up to £25,000 or £27,500; his views in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2275/00]

I recently announced significant improvements to the subsidy amounts payable for shared ownership purchases effected on or after 1 January 2000. While I have no plans at present to revise the maximum income limits, I am keeping the terms of the scheme under review.
