Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Question:

163 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when 1997 and 1998 suckler cow premia will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [2443/00]

(Mr. Walsh): As indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 142 on 14 December 1999 the position is as follows.
Under the 1997 suckler cow scheme the person named applied for premium on 38 cows on 28 May 1998. Following an on farm inspection carried out on 4 November 1999 it was established that ten of the animals on the claim were not properly tagged, consequently the animals in question were not eligible for premium. Payment of £3,926.44 in respect of the other 28 animals on the claim issued on 10 November 1998.
The person named applied for premium on 47 cows under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme on 28 May 1998. Following an on farm inspection which took place on 23 July 1998 it was established that eleven of the animals on the claim had identification errors which resulted in them being deleted without penalty from the claim. It was therefore established that the applicant had an entitlement to payment on 36 animals The applicant was subsequently paid £3,814.25 on 27 October 1998, a further payment of £112.99 on 18 November 1998 and a final balance of £1,121.84 on 20 April 1999.
