John McGuinness

Question:

188 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the position regarding the investigations into the murder of a person (details supplied) in New York; and if he will assist the family in establishing a formal line of contact with Department officials in New York in order to keep up to date with the investigation. [2992/00]

At the request of the family, the Consulate General in New York recently contacted the police who are investigating this murder. The police say that their investigations are continuing and that they are actively pursuing a number of leads.

My Department and the Consulate General will continue to monitor the progress of the investigation, to liaise between the family and the police and to give every appropriate assistance.
