Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Job Protection.

Michael Ring

Question:

198 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the effect, if any, the recent cutback of jobs internationally by a company (details supplied) will have on plants in Ballina, County Mayo, and Drogheda, County Louth; and when the plant in Ballina will be fully operational. [2959/00]

I understand that the cutback in jobs to which the Deputy refers will not have any impact on the plants in Drogheda or Ballina. Production has already commenced in Ballina and 90 people are currently employed there. It is expected that the target of 150 jobs for Ballina will be reached in 2001. The indications are that this target will be exceeded.
