Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Doctors.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

312 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children the consideration, if any, given to payment of a bonus, in addition to normal overtime rates, to compensate medical senior house officers and registrars whose hospital workload was greatly increased during the recent nurses' strike; the decision, if any, made by his Department in relation to this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3400/00]

Rates of pay for overtime for non-consultant hospital doctors are agreed nationally between the Health Service Employers' Agency and the Irish Medical Organisation. The rostering and payment of additional overtime to NCHDs, during the nurses' strike, are matters for the hospitals concerned.
