Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Long-term Illness Scheme.

Austin Currie

Question:

315 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health and Children if the necessary information has been provided by the health boards to enable him to take a decision in favour of equality on the basis of free medication on the operation of the scheme for the provision of drugs for the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia and hypertension arising from diabetes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3455/00]

The Deputy will be pleased to learn that, following an examination of this matter and to ensure uniformity of treatment throughout the health boards, all health boards have been asked to include medication for the treatment of hypertension and hypercholesterolaemia in diabetic patients under the long-term illness scheme.
