Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

353 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the definition of full-time work in relation to the back to work scheme. [3267/00]

The primary objective of the back to work allowance scheme is to enable people who have been long-term unemployed to regain a foothold in the labour market while retaining a level of financial security for a three or four year period.

One of the conditions which applies to the scheme is that the number of hours worked in a week must exceed 20. In addition the job must be new or additional and must not displace an existing job and must have the potential to become permanent.
