Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ministerial Meetings.

Bernard Allen

Question:

403 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of meetings he has had with his Northern counterpart; the topics discussed at these meetings; and the locations of the meetings. [3229/00]

I met my Northern Ireland counterparts, Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, who has responsibility for tourism, and Michael McGimpsey, Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, who has responsibility for sport, at the Inaugural Plenary Meeting of the North-South Ministerial Council in Armagh on 13 December 1999. At that meeting, an outline programme of work was agreed for all the areas of co-operation, including tourism, identified in the statement of 18 December 1998 of the First and Deputy First Ministers. This will constitute the basis for follow-up with my Northern Ireland counterparts as soon as the North South Ministerial Council meets in the appropriate sectoral formats.
