Vol. 514 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Seán Ryan

Question:

235 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the application from Loreto secondary school, Balbriggan, County Dublin, for the appointment of a second deputy principal; and if he will respond favourably in view of the school population. [3652/00]

My Department allocates a second deputy principal, on an ex-quota basis, to second level schools in the free education scheme with enrolments of 1,000 or more pupils or to designated disadvantaged schools with enrolments of 900 or more pupils.

As the school in question does not satisfy these requirements, it does not qualify for the allocation of a second deputy principal post in the current school year. The position will be reviewed for the 2000-01 school year.
