Vol. 514 No. 2

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

Willie Penrose

Question:

94 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will liaise with the Midland Health Board with a view to ensuring that a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is provided with the necessary finance to enable him to go to the USA to have specialist treatment; if he will ensure that appropriate steps are taken subsequently in order that he will get the necessary help in speech therapy subsequently; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3887/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
