I propose to take Questions Nos. 57 and 103 together.
The consultants have completed their work and have submitted their final report to my Department I will shortly report to Government on this matter since it originally requested the independent review of CIE's surplus property portfolio. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on the scope for revenue generation from that portfolio until the matter has been considered by Government.
The national development plan sets out the overall investment plans for public transport for the period 2000 to 2006. However, the level of Exchequer contribution to Iarnród Éireann is determined annually as part of the Estimates process. In 2000, the Exchequer subvention to Iarnród Éireann will be about £96 million. My Department's Estimates for 2000 also include a capital provision of £100 million in respect of railway safety and a capital provision of £45 million in respect of public transport investment, a proportion of which will be allocated to rail projects.
