Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

74 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to any impending proposal to revoke the Restrictive Practices (Groceries) Order, 1987, in view of the possible danger in the competition area in the event of this proposal; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Deirdre Clune

Question:

80 Ms Clune asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans, if any, she has to amend or restrict the Restricted Practices (Groceries) Order; 1987; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4080/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 74 and 80 together.

The competition and mergers review group has published a discussion document on the Restrictive Practices (Groceries) Order, 1987 calling for submissions from interested parties on its draft proposals.

When it has fully considered these responses, the group will then proceed to draw up their report and recommendations to me in this and the other areas covered by their terms of reference.
