167 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the status of the Lucan library project; if all construction and internal works are completed; if library book stocks are in place; and if a date has been set for the official and public opening. [4589/00]

In May 1999 my Department approved grant-aid of £600,000 for the purchase of bookstock and the fitting out of the library in Lucan. An annual subvention of 50% of the cost of leasing the library will also be provided by my Department.

Otherwise, progress on the project is a matter for the local authority.
