Vol. 514 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

124 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive full payment on his culled ewes. [4507/00]

Under the Dúchas compensation scheme for ewes culled under the 1998 ewe supplementary measure the rates of payment were fixed at £25 for the loss of each premium under the 1999 ewe premium scheme, £11 for the loss of each grant under the 1999 sheep headage scheme and £2 for each ewe culled. The maximum payable on any ewe was therefore £38.

According to my Department's records for the 1999 schemes the person named was at the loss of 36 ewe premia for which he received £25 each and 44 sheep headage grants at £11 each. He also received £2 for each of the 42 ewes that he culled in 1998. Therefore the payment of £1,468 which he received was his full entitlement under the scheme.

Question:

125 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive 1997 and 1998 extensification payments; and the reason he has not been paid 1999 cattle headage and a suckler cow premium. [4508/00]

In 1999 the person named included 44.61 hectares in his area aid application. He did not initially supply the maps necessary to process his 1999 area aid application. The area aid unit issued maps to the person named to enable him to outline the boundaries of the land claimed by him. These maps have not yet been returned to the area aid unit.

In addition the person named also included commonage in his 1999 area aid application, but did not provide proof of his entitlement to claim this commonage. The herdowner has also been contacted in this regard, but the documentation he forwarded was not sufficient. His adviser was contacted and informed of this. No payments can issue in respect of the 1999 cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes until all these outstanding issues have been resolved.

In 1998, the person included 21.06 hectares in his area aid application. He has been paid 1998 cattle headage, suckler cow premium and special beef premium but was not eligible for any 1998 extensification premium as his stocking density was greater than 1.40 livestock units per hectare.

In 1997, the person included 44.11 hectares in his area aid application. Again the area aid unit does not have the maps necessary to process his 1997 area aid application. The area aid unit has now issued maps to the person named to enable him to outline the boundaries of the land claimed by him, and a response is awaited. Cattle headage, suckler cow, special beef and extensification premiums for 1997 have been paid on the basis of the person named having a forage area of 44.11 hectares. Those payments will be reviewed when problems with the 1997 area aid application are resolved.

Question:

126 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 sheep headage. [4509/00]

An overclaim has been identified on one of the land parcels claimed in 1999 by the person named. Maps have issued to her and she has been informed of the extent of this overclaim. No payments can issue until this matter has been resolved.

Ivan Yates

Question:

127 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if 1999 REPS payments will be made in full to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact the legalities relating to his farm are now in order. [4541/00]

Full payment for his second year in REPS issued to the person named on 9 February last.
