Vol. 514 No. 5

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Applications.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

182 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further Parliamentary Question No. 121 of 10 February 2000, the time and circumstances in which the family will be reconsidered for naturalisation in view of the fact their parents are Irish citizens; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4685/00]

As the Deputy is aware, I decided not to grant certificates of naturalisation to the persons referred to in January of this year and I do not consider these cases warrant reconsideration at this early stage.

It is, however, open to them to re-apply in the future. Any such applications will be considered under the provisions of the Irish nationality and citizenship Acts.
